Does Purgatory Exist?

John 10:1 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

As many may not know, the Catholic Church’s teachings are completely independent of the Scriptures; therefore, it has no business being a part of a Christian’s life.

“The doctrines of the Catholic Church are entirely independent of Holy Scripture.” Familiar Explanation of Catholic Doctrine, Rev. M. Muller, p.151.

Those who want to make it to heaven need to come to the fullness of understanding Bible doctrine, not the Catholic doctrine that was created through paganism and some Christianity.

“The Church did everything it could to stamp out such ‘pagan’ rites, but had to capitualet and allow the rites to continue with only the name of the local diety changed to some Christian saint’s name.” -Religious Tradition and Myth. Dr. Edwin Goodenough, Professor of Religion, Harvard University. p. 56, 57.

The penetration of the religion of Babylon became so general and well known that Rome was called the “New Babylon.” -Faith of our fathers 1917 ed. Cardinal Gibbons, p. 106

“In order to attach to Christianity great attraction in the eyes of the nobility, the priests adopted the outer garments and adornments which were used in pagan cults. -Life of Constantine, Eusabius, cited in Altai-Nimalaya, p. 94

The Christ of the Bible has no part with Baal (Paganism/Babylonianism).

1 Kings 18:21 -And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD [be] God, follow him: but if Baal, [then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

Those who have been led to think that a place called purgatory is the place to cleanse the sins that Christ could not do, they have been lied to. This is what happens when people put their trust in men, churches whose doctrines are independent of the Scriptures and other institutions for spiritual guidance who have no part with Christ. If we are going to go after other gods like the pope who is but a man, then we are going to be misguided and never come to the knowledge of the truth. Does the office of the pope claim to be god? Does the pope claim to be even Christ?

To make war against the Pope is to make war against God, seeing the Pope is God, and God is the Pope.” -Moreri’s History. (Louis Moréri (25 March 1643 – 10 July 1680) was a French priest and encyclopedist.)

The Pope is of so great dignity, and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God. and the vicar of God.” -Ferraris Ecclesiastical dictionary

All names which in the Scriptures are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that He is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope.” – On the Authority of the Councils, book 2, chapter 17

The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, “Cities Petrus Bertanous”.

-These words appeared in the Roman Canon Law: “To believe that our Lord God the Pope has not the power to decree as he is decreed, is to be deemed heretical.-I?i the Gloss “Extravagantes” o.f Pope John XXII Cum inter, Tit. XIV, Cap. IV. Ad Callem Sexti Decretalium, Paris, 1685.

So many souls are walking down the path of deception because of the doctrines of the Catholic Church, which is a pagan institution that is built on false doctrine, which includes “purgatory”. This church’s path is not that of the Bible because it is again, “independent of the Scriptures”. This is why they place objects, dead saints, long and exhausting prayers and places like purgatory as a work that must be done in order to make it to heaven; thereby rejecting what Christ has already accomplished for the sins of those that seek after the Christ of the Bible for their Salvation. Purgatory is another way of Saying that Christ did not finish the work of saving mankind from ALL their sins. They claim purgatory does the work that Christ could not finish; thereby making purgatory their “saviour” and not the Christ of the Bible. The Word of God says…

Acts 4:12 -Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Purgatory is another god who cannot save you and does not even exist. Salvation is only through Christ Jesus.

As Christians, those who love, honor and worship the Creator, we make the Word of God our life. It is a light unto our path in this world that is full of lies.

Psalms 119:105 – NUN. Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

And Christ is truly the light unto the Christian path that is homeward bound to heaven.

John 8:12 – Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

So, What does the Vatican have to say about purgatory?

The Vatican II Council states:

“The doctrine of purgatory clearly demonstrates that even when the guilt of sin has been taken away, punishment for it or the consequences of it may remain to be expiated or cleansed…[I]n purgatory the souls of those who died in the charity of God and truly repentant but who had not made satisfaction with adequate penance for their sins and omissions are cleansed after death with punishment designed to purge away their debt.” (Vol 2, 394).

“Sins must be expiated. This may be done on this earth through the sorrows, miseries and trials of this life and, above all through death. Otherwise the expiation must be made in the next life through fire and torments or purifying punishments…” (Vol 1, 63).

So, Purgatory is suppose to be a place or some state where the sins of an individual, which have not been cleansed by the Lord through the works Christ did on the cross, the sins that which have not been removed complete by the blood of Christ, these unwashed sins can be now removed through fire and torment and pain in a place called purgatory. And the sinner will remain there until the dead soul is totally purified of his/her sins. Then at that time they may proceed forward to heaven. Again, the Bible is perfectly clear when it says…

John 10:1 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Trying to get to heaven through purgatory is another way. We have to enter in through the “Door”, which is Christ alone. Furthermore, Christ is the one who washes away our sins and brings us to heaven, not some place called Purgatory.

So, what all this means is, what the Vatican is implying, even though your sins are forgiven through Christ’s death, you must still suffer some punishment here in this world or in a place called purgatory before the gates of heaven can open for you after the resurrection. Is this Biblical? No it is not at all Biblical! This is proof that their doctrines are clearly “independent from the Scriptures”. Every Catholic looks forward to spending some unknown length of time in purgatory, but no one- even the pope- can know when his sins will be totally purged.

Another thing that many are missing here is how this purgatory lie opens the doors for billions to go ahead and sin here and live life up to the fullest because when we are not cleansed from our sin through Christ here on earth, we will just go to the purgatory god to be cleansed.

This doctrine is rife with problems:

First, no sin can be cleansed from the soul by any amount or kind of suffering. Suffering may only temporarily alter a person’s character to sin, but once the pain is forgotten, the old tendencies end up returning while we are going through the purification process on earth now in the life that we have and under the probationary period that has been given to all. The Work of the Three Most Highest Powers in heaven is working with us to help us overcome now while we are going through temptations and tests. Furthermore, it is only through Christ, it is through His works, through His merits, through His love for us and it is by the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross that gives us the cleansing of our sins, which gives us a second chance to walk with God and allow Him to perfect our lives.

Secondly, our sins are cleansed by Christ (on earth) and not at a place of fire, torment and pains after ones death. The Bible declares that Christ “when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Hebrew 1:3), clearly saying that the purging is complete. Now one can only chose to receive it or reject it. “The blood of Jesus Christ, [God’s] Son, cleanseth [purges] us from all sin” (1 John 1:7) and “without the shedding of blood is no remission [of sin]” (Hebrew 9:22). However, purgatory is said to be not a place of blood shedding, but a place of “purifying fire”! Can fire remove sin? The belief that fire can remove sin is false. Think that fire can remove sin is thereby putting their faith in the fire and not Christ. We cannot do that. This is what the Catholic Church loves to do: they love to place everything they can above the Creator, above the Saviour. Nothing can save us, but Christ. The only possible purging of our sins was accomplished by Jesus Christ. And if we have received that love offering for us, we will bear the works of the loving law of God in our lives, the Ten Commandments.

Thirdly, the Vatican II quoted in the above: “adequate penance.” What is adequate penance? No one really knows because Rome has never defined this part of her doctrine completely. This is why Catholics have to go crawling on their knees at “Marian shrines”, “whip themselves”, “wear hair-shirts to ‘atone’ for their sins and by-pass purgatory through their sufferings”. This clearly is a rejection of Christ’s perfect sacrifice on our behalf for the remission of our sins once and for all. God made Jesus “to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). And “by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14). Since we have been perfected forever by Christ’s sacrifice, there is no “work” or suffering of ours that can cleanse our sins. The perfect work of our Lord and Saviour and what He did on the cross, it puts out the mythical flames of purgatory that have come straight out of the lips of hell.

Fourthly, “The Church offers the Pascal Sacrifice for the Dead so that…the dead may be helped by prayers and the living may be consoled by hope. Among Masses for the Dead is the Funeral Mass which holds the first place in importance…” (Vatican Council II, Austin Flannery O.P. 2, 205).

Masses are said to help the dead and their sufferings to help shorten their time in purgatory. Thus, Catholics have to pay priests to perform Masses on behalf of all their dead loved ones. Even a funeral Mass has to be infused with big money to call in the big shot priests and Catholic dignitaries. I have found online there is an old Irish saying: “High money, High Mass, Low money, Low Mass, No money, no Mass!”

The Catholic Church has never been able to define or state how much of reduction each Mass would grant a soul or when exactly the souls would leave the place of purgatory, so the money has to keep flowing in to the priests for more Masses. This is why some Catholics still today hold Masses for their parents who have been dead for many years already. The Bible is clear about persons putting their trusts in riches. Take a look at the next passage…

Matthew 19:23-24 – Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Furthermore, take a look at this next verse…

Psalms 49:6-7 – They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None [of them] can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

So, if money cannot redeem a living of a soul, how much more for the dead? Truly, this doctrine has paved the way for Vatican control and exploitations. Purgatory is not only a lie; it’s also a very golden lie. It is “the goldmine of the priesthood.”

Finally, purgatory clearly implies that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross (which “is finished” John 19:30) was insufficient to purge away our sins, but the Catholic Mass, which repeats that sacrifice can do the purging. They claim Christ’s sacrifice is not enough to get us to heaven, but the forgiven sinner must suffer torment and what have you to add to Christ’s sacrifice to be purified. This is a fatal contradiction. The next passage says it all…

John 19:30 – When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

It is finished means that there is nothing left to be done. Every soul will decided while they have the breath of life in them to serve God or Satan, to follow the Bible or the Catholic Church.

The following verses that are supplied in the below, these passages will remove any thought that there is a place called purgatory.
