Strength For Today

223

Deuteronomy 33:25 – As thy days, so shall thy strength be.

The promise that comes from our Lord is not that we will have strength today for a future emergency, but it is for the day which we are in, and we should not anticipate any future troubles beforehand. We may, if we walk by faith, expect strength and provision for the day as our circumstances demand it. As Christians, we live by faith, not by sight.

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The Lord’s arrangement is for us to ask Him for the very things that we need.

Matthew 7:7, 8 – Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

The grace for tomorrow will not be given today. A wonderful thing to understand as well, is to see and understand how everyone’s necessity is God’s opportunity to work and to see His hand move, which he desires for all to experience. The grace of God is never given to just be squandered away, to be misapplied or perverted by those receiving it, or to be left to rust away. We must do His will.

While we are bearing daily responsibilities in the love and fear of God, as obedient children walking in all humility of mind, strength and the wisdom that comes from God, it will be given to meet every trying circumstance in our lives which will help us overcome.

We are to keep close to the Source of our strength, which is found in Jesus, day by day we need to do this, and when the enemy comes in like a flood to try and destroy us, the Spirit of the Lord lifts up a standard for us against the enemy of souls and shuts Him down with our desires to meet with Christ and resist the temptations.

James 4:7 – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The promise of God is sure for all of us that would take hold of it, that strength shall be proportioned to our day. His grace will suffice. We may be confident for the future only in the strength that is given for the present necessities for the day….Do not borrow anxiety, stress and negative emotions for the future. It is today that we are in need to give focus to. Let us not add that which does not need to be added.

Many are weighed down by the anticipation of future troubles, which is their own choosing. They are constantly seeking to bring tomorrow’s burdens into today, which is all designed by the enemy of souls to harm our temples. Unnecessary troubles cause the body to wear down. Most don’t realize that many of our supposed troubles are a large portion imaginary and don’t even exist. For this, Christ has made no provision. He promises grace only for the day. He tells us not to burden ourselves with the cares and troubles of tomorrow.

Matthew 6:34 – Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.

The Lord requires us to perform the duties for the day and to endure its trials. Today we are to watch and see to it that we offend not in word or in deed. We must today praise and honor God because we don’t know what tomorrow brings. By the exercise of living faith today we are to conquer the enemy through the power of God. We must today seek God and be determined that we will not rest satisfied without His presence.

We should watch and work and pray as though this was the last day that would be granted to work for our Saviour. We should try to always remember that! Oh, how intensely earnest, then, would be our life. How closely would we follow Jesus in all our words and deeds? Let us remember to Love as Christ has taught us to love and do it as if we will be gone tomorrow. Peace be unto all…
