How about and Above all, taking the shield of faith? What is the shield of faith? What is true faith?
A shield is the warrior’s device usually on the left arm, as a defense against swords, lances, arrows, etc. This device is a defense and protection of the warrior against the enemy.
What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Romans 8:24-25 “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it].”
From these two verses, we can see that faith is believing the things which are unseen, being able to look at things that are unseen, hoping for the unseen. Faith enables us to grasp the things which are unseen. We as human beings have the natural tendency to look at the things which are seen but using the eye of faith we see the things which are unseen. The man that has faith sees beyond the things that are seen. We believe in God even if we have not seen Him personally. But we know He is there because beyond what the eyes can see exist a powerful Divine God that can do everything according to His will. We know this because we have faith. Faith that believes the things not seen.
What is the importance of faith? Why do we need the shield of faith?
As a warrior’s armour, shield protects him from danger. Faith does the same thing. It enables us to stand amidst fiery trials and persecutions. If we take a look at the life of Daniel and his 3 friends we can see a tremendous amount of faith these youth have. For them, whether God is able to deliver them or not, they will not violate the commandment of God. That is true faith. Look at Abraham when he was told to offer his only son? Even if it would mean that he would lose his only son but he followed what God had commanded him. This is true shield of faith. And because of this he is called the father of the faithful. True living Faith is true obedience to God. This is our shield as warrior of God.
The professed Christian world claims they are saved by grace through faith as we can read from Ephesians 2:8, therefore they are released from their obligation or duty from keeping the law of God. But this is not faith, this is presumption. We find in James 2:17, “faith, if it hath not works, is dead”. The Word of God says, “Hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments” (1 John 2:3).So true faith brothers and sisters brings fruit of obedience. You can profess all you want but if you don’t have corresponding works, your faith is just a profession. If we have the kind of real faith that works obedience and do the Father’s will we should abide in His love and be sons and daughters of God. Amen! Strive so hard to put on the shield of faith. It is the a great step in arming yourself with the armor of God.
So moving on to the next armour, how about putting on the helmet of salvation? What is taking the helmet of salvation? What is salvation? What is the role of helmet in a warrior’s life in the battlefield?
A helmet is a part of the armor that protects the warrior’s head from attacks of the enemy. If the head is injured, most likely the warrior cannot function and do his part but eventually he will die in the battlefield. So do with our spiritual warfare. Our head must be protected against the enemy. It is in the head that we think. Our mind is in our head. If our head is poisoned with the lies of Satan then we become his captive. Because of this, God cannot deliver us from death.
What is salvation?
Salvation means deliverance from something. In the most part, salvation is deliverance from sin (justification) and deliverance into the kingdom of God (glorification).
Looking back into God’s other book the sanctuary, We should all know that there is a process, a three step process that we must take that we can find in the sanctuary services that will bring us into the final salvation unto heaven, in both the type and anti-type. So you know, the type is where we find the works of the sanctuary service and the anti-types is where we find it in its fulfillment and its application to our daily lives while we walk on this earth. The first step that we find is justification which is in the inner court. Justification by true faith will bring us to the cross of Calvary/altar of sacrifice. True faith that the Word of God speaks of will have corresponding works that manifest obedience to the law of God. So, we are justified by faith as Romans 3:28 says. Romans 3:28 “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.“ In short, justification is when we, by faith, accepts Christ as our Saviour by acknowledging that He died for our sins to redeem us from the bondage of sin, satan and death.
The second step in this process is sanctification. Sanctification is found in the first apartment of the sanctuary, the Holy Place. It is where we are to read the Word of God/eat of the bread of life, praying and applying it to our own lives. This is where you have the table of shew-bread. Next you have the prayers of the saints/burning of the incenses and the seven candlesticks that are continuing to burn with oil which is a fruit that the light is shinning in our lives that we are to reflect to the world. We are to be the light of the world in laboring together with God. So, Sanctification is the purification or purging out of the old self and letting Christ work in us the work of His righteousness. This is after we have been justified through His death on the cross by going to Him in faith. This processes of sanctification is a manifesting fruit that we have fulfilled justification.
This sanctification process will work in us/bring us into the third step of glorification unto a crown a life in heaven. True and final salvation is in God who is our Saviour who will bring us into salvation free once and for all from the bondage of satan, sin and death which worketh a corruptible crown.
In short, salvation is redemption from sin through the blood of Christ and deliverance into the kingdom of God. What does the Word of God say?
The Bible says, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness(justification), and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son(final deliverance, glorification): In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”(Colossians 1: 13-14).
In other words, Christ has made a way of escape for each and everyone of us. He has come to set us free from the bondage of satan who had been working in us a corruptible seed, but because Christ is delivering us from our sins we can become a new creature in God unto obedience. Galatians 6:15.
Let us read2 Corinthians 1:10“Who delivered us from so great a death(justification), and doth deliver(sanctification): in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; (glorification) ”
Christ has delivered us from sin at the cross. That is when we were justified. At that time we were assured that it is possible that sin can be overcome. Then Christ is still delivering us, protecting us from the enemy if we continue to walk in Him. This stage is the sanctification state that we all should be found. Christ then will yet to deliver us. This is future. This is when we are found worthy to be in heaven. This is when we all be glorified. Christ will deliver us if we allow Him to. Trust in Him. My tougue cannot speak, my pen cannot portray, the mind of people can not comprehend this full significance of what Christ has done. I can speak to you all day about this topic and never have it completed, or accomplished the way it will be explained in heaven. There is more than a life time of understanding in the plan of salvation, the sacrifice of Christ and many other things that are written in the Word of God.
Next, why are we to guard our minds and put on the helmet of salvation?
Because there are battles to win against our enemies who cultivate faults of character and disposition even in the house of God. Satan is waiting for every chance he can get to divert the human mind from the thoughts of God. We must guard our minds against this adversary of our souls being saved from the grips of HELL!
Moving on to the next armour, What is the sword of the Spirit? What is the role of the sword in the warrior’s life in the battlefield?
The sword is the warrior’s main way of attack. It can be a two-edged sword that can hit the enemy on both sides. The pointed end of the sword can pierce through anything even a heavy metal.
So what is the sword of the Spirit?
Ephesians 6:17 “…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Straight and to the point! It is the WORD OF GOD! It will cut through the lies of satan and destroy our enemies that chose not to repent and turn to the love of the truth. The writings of truth will bring truth to the tongue and it will bring glory to God and a sword to penetrate the lies of satan. This can proceedeth out of our mouth if we would allow God to sharpen them. Just read the Word of God and sharpen the sword of the Spirit to be that perfect servant which will reflect Christ.
What is the purpose of the word of God?
Psalms 119:105 “Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
The Word of God is a lamp in our feet and light to our path in this dark wicked world. Imagine yourself walking in the dark with no light to lighten your way. You might end up in a ditch and hurt yourself but if we have a light to brighten our path then we know which path we are walking and we will know if the path is safe or not.
John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
The Word of God is for sanctification. It works sanctification only if we apply them into our lives. But if we ignore them, it won’t and cannot sanctify us.
So what is the relationship of sword to the word of God? How are the two compared?
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
As we can see, the word of God is even sharper than the two-edged sword. It can pierce through the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit. The literal sword cannot do that for us. The word of God can penetrate through the joints and the marrow of our soul. It can discern the thoughts and the intentions of our hearts. If you have the word of God, even if you are worldly uneducated, you can become an effective warrior of God. We can cut through any of the enemy’s defenses. You can expose their lies and uncover the truth. You don’t need to be a degree holder to do this. Fishermen disciples were able to become victorious warrior because they had the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. Some went to prison, some were stoned to death, others suffered extreme persecution but nothing of these things weakened them because the sword of the Spirit is deeply rooted in their hearts. They are ready to die for it.
And the two last important parts of the warrior’s armor is the watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
A good and effective warrior is a watchfuland persevering warrior. If he slumbers for a moment the enemy could take him and kill him. A warrior doesn’t join a battle and then when he sees things are difficult he will back off and go home. No, this is not a valiant warrior. This is cowardliness. This is not a fighting for victory. A good warrior is to be a persevering one. Even when he is bloody he will continue to fight and fight all that he can. This is the same thing with our spiritual life. We are warned…
Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:”
Mark 13:33 “Take ye heed, watch and pray:”
Luke 21:36 “Watch ye therefore, and pray always,”
Paul said about being persevering in this spiritual battle that we are in,
1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
After we fight, eternal life will be ours. And only those who endure the fight will get it.
Matthew 24:13 “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
It doesn’t say those who give up will be saved. It clearly says those that endure. We must endure brethren no matter how bloody we are in this battle we are in. The more bloody we are the more strong we should become. This is true perseverance. Don’t quit. We are just all being tested.
1 Peter 1:7 “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”
Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
We have a sure promise that if we endure this fight, we will receive the glory, the crown, the eternal life.
What about supplication for all saints? What does supplication mean? What does God associate supplication with?
Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
God associates supplication with prayer. Prayer is very important. It is part of the armour that we have to carry into the battlefield. We need not miss this armour because without prayer we will lose our connection with the Source of our power.
Brethren, God sets everything that we needed to overcome and be victorious in this battle. We have to carry every armour brethren. Don’t forget any armour. The word of God says put on the WHOLE armour of God. It doesn’t say put on one piece of armour and you will be fine. No, the word is clear. We need the WHOLE armour of God. It has to be the armour of God, not our own devised armour. This self-created armour won’t work. No way will it work.
So I pray that everyone is being blessed by what you have heard this Sabbath day. Let us all put on the whole armour of God so that we can fight and defeat the devil. Remember our war is soon to end but as much as it’s soon to end the more its getting tough and those who endure till the end will be saved. Matthew 24:13.
Peace unto all…
